Subject: referential integrity

Yesterday Mitch Damon from Agrilink Foods posed a question about referential
integrity (please see his e-mail below). Mitch explained that his problem is
that he wanted to ensure that under certain situations in BPCS, that certain
data relationships existed, and be notified if they do not. For example, if a
forecast or customer order exists at a Distribution Center and a Distribution
Relationship did not exist for that same item / to facility combination, he
wanted to be notified. Often this problem went undiscovered until they were
late shipping the customer order.

There are a number of solutions that can solve this problem. They could
include:
1. An report that will list when this situation exists.
2. An automatic notification that is e-mailed to someone for resolution.

SSA Global Technologies has a solution offering from our Global Development
Center (GDC) in Toronto called Lotus Notes Messaging. It is characterized by:
1. Queries are preformed against the BPCS (or any database) can be done on
demand or scheduled to run automatically at defined intervals.
2. When a condition is discovered that meets the selection criteria, a
customized e-mail message is sent to predefined users notifying them of the
condition and need for resolution.
3. Though the solution utilizes Lotus Notes, it can send the customized
messages to any e-mail address / software (MS Outlook, Yahoo, for
example)
4. There are countless applications for this type of notification solution.
Some of the existing messages we have done for other BPCS clients
include:
     Order Acknowledgements
     Credit Hold notifications
Purchase Order and Requisition approval notifications
     Credit Dunnings
Electronic Commerce Manager (ECM) error notifications
     Items approaching inventory reorder points
     Inventory transaction notifications
5. The Lotus Notes Messaging solution does require a version of Lotus Notes
loaded on a PC Server.
6. It utilizes Lotus Domino (a widely used development environment)
Which you do not need a license for. If you do, you may be able to further
customize this solution to meet your business needs.

The business benefits of this solution are:
1. Users are notified of business conditions automatically (they don't have to
remember to run a report or read it).
Which allows them to react quickly to key business events or situations.
2. It allows customized messages. A different messages can be sent to
different users when the same database condition is discovered.
3. The solution is easily deployed centrally or decentralized

If anyone has a desire to discuss this solution in more detail, please do not
hesitate to contact me (my phone number is listed below) or your Account
Manager. We will be happy to discuss it with you in more detail and if
sufficient interest exists, put you in contact with our developers at the GDC in
Toronto. There we can discuss your specific business issues, formulate a
solution plan, and provide an estimate for the solution plan.

Thank you and I hope you find this information beneficial.

Sincerely,
Bob Benton

Does anyone know of a product that examines the data loaded in to BPCS and
evaluates key records for referential integrity?
