  • Subject: Performance in 6.1.01 fixed - sort of.

V6.1 to V6.1.01 conversion performance prob:

I found, after LOTS of digging around, a damaged object in the data library.
Every time I did a DSPLIB I would get a machine check (permanent system
error, etc.). I was doing a DSPLIB to find any excessively large files,
which was an issue after their S36 to V6.1 update.

Anyway - ESRL07 was damaged. I deleted it, rebuilt it and the system came
back to what passes for normal.

HOWEVER - when somebody posts an order (and they're using the configurator),
I do a WRKSYSSTS, and Active-to-wait in QINTER's subsystem has actually
peaked beyond 50,000. (That's not a misprint - their system usually runs
with active-to-wait under 50, or at most, under 100. Needless to say, I'm
shocked. Does anybody have any idea what would cause this?

Thanks in advance - Rob

As I promised, I did discover that there is a product called SEQUENCE in the
SSA
GT Portfolio offering. A brief description from a colleague is below.
Igor, if
I can help any further in this area, please give me a call. My phone number
is
below.

Sequence is a separate SSA product. It runs on a separate small AS/400 so
that
sequenced requests can be received 24 / 7. It is similar to sequence
shipping
but expands several areas to make it a better solution for clients who
receive
sequences frequently and round the clock. I think it also allows the
trading
partner to send a VIN (vehicle identification number) and Sequence would
then
interpret the sections to determine which of the client's products are
required.

Igor,

The eBPCS solution does include an application called Release Management
System
(RMS) which is designed for the automotive supply industry. A component of
the
RMS solution is Sequenced Shipping. Sequenced Shipping is designed support
requirements in which OEM Manufacturers require components delivered (and
loaded
on the truck) in a sequence such that as they are removed from the truck,
they
will match the production sequence and require minimal (or no) additional
handling or storage.

I would be happy to discuss this with you in more detail if you desire. My
phone number is below. I will research the document you reference and see
if I
can find out what SSA Portfolio SEQUENCE is referring to.

Thank you

Subject: Sequencing in Automotive Supply Industry

Dear all,

Automotive supply industry is specific by using sequencingas the way of
handling components to produce the right items required by vehicle
manufacturer. Core BPCS does not support sequencing (as I know). So this
part
of manufacturing process is usually (or needs to be) solved by using
third-part systems.

Lately I found on ssagt.com site the document named "SSA Portfolio Solution
for the automotive supply industry". The document contains information about
the product called SSA Portfolio SEQUENCE. I never heard about such BPCS
product.

Does anybody have experience with SSA Portfolio SEQUENCE product or is there
any place where info about SEQUENCE product can be found?

I would appreciate any info.
