Hello, One thing you want to look at is OGS for a recent product bulletin. This bulletin warns that when doing the conversion up to 6.1.00 from another BPCS release, you should apply the 6.1.01 cumulative AFTER doing the conversion, rather than before doing your data conversion. This is because the BPCS conversion software was written to get your data into a 6.1.00 database. At 6.1.01 there were additional database changes which are applied during the cumulative installation. Therefore the older conversion software couldn't account for those changes, and so you should first convert your data to a 6.1.00 database, and then apply the cumulative 6.1.01 release. You can read about intermediate database changes on OGS in the Net Change documents for all releases. You would want to download Net Changes for all the 6004 releases and for the changes that occurred between 6.1.00 and 6.1.01. Also on OGS you can find the document that describes how to share MM and CS versions over 1 database library. This can certainly be done. A user can install a Full CS PC client and they can access the '2nd Generation' programs either via green screen or via the PC GUI interface once the environment is configured. The 'Fat Client' DFS programs (OLM and CEA) can only be accessed via GUI interface as they have no green screen equivalent. Phone the AS/400 Technical Helpline for a workaround about converting files with over one million records in them. SSA always recommends doing an installation of a new release into a test environment first. Whether or not you have sufficient space on your production box to support the conversion process, the test of the new release and your production environment operations all at the same time is the main question. Performance can suffer if the DASD will go over 75% of the disk. You will have to analyze for yourself or with assistance from a consultant.
