Chick's idea is one of the thing that the maybe the programmer considers to add some more 1. Maybe the programmer uses OVRDBF command and place the file to QTEMP, yes there are advantages to this technique but with my experience with BPCS revisions, the programmer should explicitly place the overriding file to the library which contains the bolt-on programs database file. 2. If you want to put the QTEMP library on the top of the list you should revise the programmer's user profile data area. In this data area where written all the library to be loaded during sign-on including the order of libraries. But QTEMP is automatically added by the system so, if you really want to put QTEMP at the top of the library list you should handle this programatically. (to do this I'm willing to help, you can reach me-the # is below) Benny Gene de Vera (914)242-1784 bennygene@usa.net genenews@techie.com "Chick Doe" <Cdoe@barton-instruments.com> wrote: again i'm not an expert! but my experience has always been with qtemp on the bottom of the library list. but my more major concern is what is he going to put into qtemp/ objects that you put in qtemp are accessible only by the job that put them there and they are deleted when that job ends. for example, if he was working on a report program change he would have to compile the program to qtemp. but if the compile was done in batch, you could not access the program via an interactive session, or via another batch job. why not create a test library for him, have him put his objects in his library, add his library to the library list, and test them? somehow, qtemp does smell right, but then again, i don't know the specifics of what he is trying to do. >>> Mrogers@miwheel.com 10/19/00 12:27PM >>> Have a programmer doing some development in BPCS for me. He has requested that I move QTEMP to top of library list in the BPCS job descriptions so he can test more conveniently. Doesn't seem like it should hurt anything.....any comments out there? +--- | This is the BPCS Users Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to BPCS-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to BPCS-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to BPCS-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner: dasmussen@aol.com +--- +--- | This is the BPCS Users Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to BPCS-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to BPCS-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to BPCS-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner: dasmussen@aol.com +--- ____________________________________________________________________ Get free email and a permanent address at http://www.netaddress.com/?N=1 +--- | This is the BPCS Users Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to BPCS-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to BPCS-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to BPCS-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner: dasmussen@aol.com +---
