I would also be interested in looking at any good Point of Sale system that is PC based since some of this solution may be in a remote traveling trailer. The BPCS interface will then be reviewed as needed. bbenton@ssax.co m To: BPCS-L@midrange.com Sent by: cc: owner-bpcs-l@mi Subject: Re: Point of Sales System with BPCS drange.com 08/21/00 02:45 PM Please respond to BPCS-L I will assume that you are an AS/400 client. You may want to look into a product called Supermarket from IBM. Here are some highlights from some of it's literature. Other BPCS clients have selected this product for use with BPCS, although I do not know where they are with the implementation of the solution. Tthe interface is custom and you'll need SMG's or some tools for integration, but it is worth consideration. Highlights Want a supermarket solution that will help you improve operations and control expenses at the same time? One that gives you complete data capture capabilities- with sales information you can rely on? A software program that's flexible enough to be customized to your business. Check out IBM 4680-4690 Supermarket Application. This powerful software package is specialty designed to handle the extremely high number of transactions carried out by the typical supermarket. And it backs you up with detailed, accurate reports. Advanced accounting features and inventory control capabilities based on all the data captures at the checkout are yours with 4680-4690 Supermarket Application, too. Speedy front-end operations The IBM Supermarket Application has the right features to help optimize profits by assuring that checkout counters are performing up to speed. Among other things, the application can process up to an impressive 90,000 items per hour- providing price lookups in less than a second. And it can help cashiers handle customer payment transactions faster than ever-including payments in coupons, food stamps, debit and credit, and more. The Supermarket Application can verify checks against an in-store negative or positive check authorization file, or against centrally maintained check authorization files. It can also track and regulate the number of checks written by any given customer in a defined period of time. IBM has other offerings too, this one happens to support multiple languages etc... Hope this helps.
