Check the archives http://www.midrange.com/bpcs-l-archive for threads on
DOCUMENTATION and POSTER.

There is a one page wall chart of all files & how they interconnect through
which applications - the odds are that you will not get this toy.
Incidentally I did get thru to someone at SSA for clarification on the
intellectual property rights of this thing ... this is no longer available to
their customers from SSA, and for those of us who got it before they quit
sharing it, it is copyright SSA & not to be shared with other customers of
SSA.

There are one page 8 x 11 diagrams by application that summarize what the
application does & what kinds of data flow in which directions. So basically
this gives someone an understanding what the application is all about.

There are also one page 8 x 11 diagrams with one box per application & arrows
pointing connecting all the other boxes, with names of main stuff that
interflow. I made copy of ours & color coded with highlighter, light lines
through boxes showing which applications we have fully implemented, which are
partially implemented, which we are using some isolated programs from, which
we considering implementing next, and which are not on our radar screens at
present, and I give this to new management hires to help them with big
picture of where we are in the ERP world. Then underneath boxes I put names
of people in charge of each application.

There are one to two page 8 x 11 diagrams for an application giving the main
programs used in them on a daily basis & the sequence they supposed to be run
in & summary of what each does. So basically this gives someone who is new
to an application a check list of the most important stuff they need to
understand.

I love them ... UPI & other places sell them in collections known by the
quaint name of "BPCS Manuals" UPI's is in looseleaf binder so easy to do
what I described above. http://www.unbeatenpathintl.com/services.html

Have you been to the SSA web sites ... not the tech help URLs but the
marketing BS for people who not know BPCS ... some of them have nice
graphical pictures of what BPCS is supposed to be able to do - I am not
implying BPCS cannot do these things, just saying that many companies spend
big bucks on an ERP then nver get around to implementing more than 0.0001 %
of its capabilities.

There are magazine articles explaining the nuts & bolts of some applications
from a high level management perspective & how to get the best value out of
them.
I have some from Crowe Chizek http://www.crowechizek.com/ and from Nex Gen htt
p://www.nexgeninfo.com/ ... there's lots more stuff ... check the archives
for past discussions like I suggested.

I also went into the on-line documentation & cut & pasted from it into my own
documents, so for example I have a cross-index by application.

I want to do X ... is there a program for that, what is it, what menu, and
our own additions to the pot are integrated in this directory with the
vanilla BPCS collection
