Hi Martha,

You are not experiencing lockups per se. The term 'lock up' in BPCS-land
means the entire PC is frozen, ie - the mouse, cursor etc. does not work and
you can not ALT TAB to another application. It sounds from what you have
described that your users either :

1. Had a looping server job that causes the PC to appear to hang while it
waits for the server job which will never ever come back
2. Have performance problems causing the PC to appear to hang while it waits
for the server to finish processing

Clearing the order entry files you mentioned in your note probably makes the
SQL on the server run faster, as the work files should be small and are
expected in the program code to be small (this is why there are so few
logicals built against them). Thus the control returns to the PC in a more
timely fashion and your users don't think they are 'locked up'.

Have you researched existing OLM LCC performance BMRs? There are many.
Freight rating is one of the problem areas and there are outstanding
performance BMRs on this exact topic. Check with the Helpline for details on
setups that can minimize the problem. See BMR 43050 and BMR 50722, both of
which are incomplete (50722 is closed as also being handled under 43050).

Thanks

Genyphyr Novak
