we looked at this a couple of years ago so my information is dated. a lot can happen in two years. be very specific about what transactions you want to collect. do you want times only, quantities, good units, scrap units? do you want only operation reporting or do you want to use the bpcs backflushing functionality? as i remember kronos did not support any backflushing which means you will have to collect both labor and material transactions separately. (again this was two years ago!) i'd also be concerned about the statement that you made that said that the kronos software can run on either the as/400 or a pc box? is this the data collection software? or is it the software that will actually update the bpcs files? and what about the statement that they say that they will program the interfaces? are these custom for you? if they already have their system working at other bpcs sites, why would they need to reprogram them again for you. bottom line - as best i remember kronos supported the bpcs inventory transactions 'out of the box'. with custom programming they could do the labor reporting transactions. they did not even come close to supporting the backflush transactions. DISCLAIMER - PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THESE COMMENTS ARE BASED UPON PRESENTATIONS AND STUDIES FROM A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO AND THAT THINGS SOMETIMES GET DISTORTED THROUGH TIME IN MY FEEBLE BRAIN. >>> tbutala@dentsply.com 07/19/00 09:46AM >>> I would like to know if anybody out there has interfaced the Kronos Labor Reporting System (Not the same as Kronos Payroll) into BPCS and the corresponding pluses and negatives. We currently are running on BPCS 6.04. It is my understanding that the Kronos Labor system can run on either the AS/400 or on a PC Network and that all labor reporting comes from the Kronos software itself. Also, Kronos is claiming that they will program the interfaces from and back into the BPCS system. One of our divisions are all hot to move to this, I have not received any of the documentation on the package yet but I though I would toss it out there for discussion.
