How about........
Leave the Kanban Item as a "real" Item with a BOM
but do NOT open a Shop Order to track it. Rather, use INV500 with a
Receipt/Multi-Issue transaction (without a Shop order) to receive it. MOVE it's
complete Routing to its parent Routing (so that standard cost & earned labor
does not dissappear..)
Report the Inv Trans when the kanban qty is made.
Do not need to open shop order, do not need to report labor, do not need to
close shop orders. Let MRP "suggest" planned orders of the Kanban Item# so that
MRP will plan to buy the raw materials.
You keep Inv Visibility.
You keep a part number with it's blue prints.
You keep it's visibility on it's parents shop orders.
You "simply" stop using Shop Orders for these Kanban Items.
Seems too simple to me.......
Anything I missed ??

Thanks
