From Al Macintyre Thanks Ambekar I had to read IBM help several times to understand which should be TO and which should be FROM - it is almost counter intuitive What we are trying to do is relabel some fields so that without any re-compiling of inquiry programs or reports, various literals will now have substitute text such as Qty per Carton Pro Bill # Test Board Weight per 1000 # of wires Thus we do this in the SSAZ03 literals message file ... we do have a message file for new error messages added by our programs added to the BPCS collection. > Here is what I suggest. > When you receive new message files from SSA, > you can run MRGMSGF command to merge the new message id's > to the old message file. > By doing this you are always safe since your message file at top of the library > list and contains new messages included. (You always keep a copy of new > message file at base library). > > If you are changing standard message id's of SSAZ* files > you can prevent these in future. > Adopt a new strategy to add new message id's to message files. > For e.g., you can use literal constants in SSAZ01 messages > and error messages in SSAZ02 message files. > For message id's you can give something like 'xx00001' > where 'xx' represents you company name or something else.
