We are on V6.04 MM and have AS/SET.
AS/SET does not really qualify as a 4GL (IMO).
It certainly is not GUI. Thats different s/w entirely, not sure what
its called. AS/SET standardises your display screens, and a scraper like
SeaGull can exploit because the stuff on the screen can be relied on to
be in certain places and only in those, then it does its PC thing.
But you shoot way too high when speculating on AS/SET capabilities, more
like you should aim for your foot, eg. in V4r3 and V4r4 the large RPG
III (note not IV) sources created by AS/SET don't compile (I think it
you need to do a manual convert to IV. because IBMs mods to IV when
ported back to III overload certain size resrictions in III).
I hear that the AS/SET RPG generators will be enhanced some day, but I
also heard that AS/SET is a dying breed because it will be replaced by
the new ODW?? C based 4GL that is coming one day, still this is just
hearsay.)
