Dan:

Like any ERP package, BPCS has it's share of problems. Over the years, we've
rescued many companies that had major problems with BPCS, or with the
firm(s) that installed it for them.

>From our experience, the root causes of the problems tend to be (in no
special order):

- insufficient training of the people using the system
- data conversion errors
- consultants who are not effective
- project management, or lack thereof

These problems are not unique to BPCS, although the common opinion is that
the quality of BPCS code could be a little higher.

Many companies are very happy with BPCS. They trained their users well, had
good project management in place, and had good outside resources to draw
upon when needed.

If a company has BPCS, but has problems, they should focus on addressing the
issues. If you swim 3/4 of the way across a lake, it makes since to finish
the swim, not turn around and go back.
