We use the create date of the spool file to purge anything over 4 days and not in a save Que.
We leave everything in BPCSOUTQ.

     I have a client that has many users that just don't clean up unwanted
     spooled output.  We have created a set of save outqs, and a set of
     trash outqs.  Every night, the nightly run reads through all outqs and
     does the following:
        -Keeps the save outqs as they are,
        -Clears the oldest trash outq (trash1, meaning last day before
     purge),
        - Moves all output from trash2 to trash1
        - Moves all output from trash3 to trash2
        - Moves all output from trash4 to trash3
        - Moves all output from trash5 to trash4
        - Moves all output from all other outqs to trash5
     Since users are now losing output, they are paying closer attention. 
     Once something hits a trash outq, they know they had better either
     print it, move it to a save outq, or lose it.  The five day rotation
     is necessary due to part timers.
     Since this is set to read all outqs on the system, any new outqs added
     will be processed.
