  • Subject: ** BPCS-L ADMIN ** Question and _REMINDER_!!!
  • From: DAsmussen@xxxxxxx
  • Date: Wed, 26 May 1999 23:13:02 EDT

Hey Folks,

OK, that's it. I want to take an informal poll, but please respond to me
directly at DAsmussen@aol.com instead of this message or to
BPCS-L@midrange.com. I'll tally the results, and make my decision
accordingly.

Question, should I continue to allow job postings on this list, or should
they be eliminated as allowable from the guidelines? I threatened to remove
this option the next time someone responded to the list about a job offer
instead of to the poster directly -- frankly, if you're not bright enough to
do that, _I_ wouldn't hire you. The reminder that follows kept the responses
from coming to the list, but there were three nonetheless. From my
perspective, job postings are just a big pain where I have to keep sending
these notes, chastistising those that abuse the priveledge, and feel that the
MIDRANGE-JOBS list would be more appropriate. How do you feel? Do they
help, or should job postings get the kibosh? Again, please respond directly.

Now, the reminder. If you send a note to the list and it doesn't come back
to you, you are not enrolled in the list under the address from which you
sent it. These errors have become so common that I no longer take the time
to inform you. If you send a message to the list, you should always get a
copy of it echoed back from BPCS-L@MIDRANGE.COM. The most common reason for
this not happening is that your employer's unregulated "webmaster" has
changed your outbound e-mail address without telling anyone. You also cannot
forward a message to your home/work address and attempt to answer it from
that location if said location is not enrolled in BPCS-L. Responses from
"disinterested third parties" to whom you forwarded mail will also not appear
if the "third party" is not enrolled in the list but attempts to respond to
it.

I would reiterate that enrollment in this list, or any other list hosted at
any MIDRANGE.COM address, in no way compromises your personal information.
Your address will _NEVER_ be sold, your domain will never be revealed to
anyone, and your opinions are your own. Simply stated, enrollment is merely
a tool by which we keep "spammers" from sending a message to
"EVERYONE@MIDRANGE.COM". If you have any questions regarding this note, or
wish to vote, please respond to the address below...

Regards!
