Setting the date backward can also cause havoc.  There were a string of
messages in this news-list in July 1998 about this topic.  
We are using a stand-alone test AS/400 (and HP9000, HP3000, NT, RS6000) to
do our Y2K testing on. These are connected to their own Y2K LAN with access
only from certified Y2K compliant PCs.
