Since version 6.0 and higher, BPCS is using embedded SQL statements as much as needed. Together with this there is also a new technical and transparant programming technic introduced : 1. There are no longer multi-membered files ; 2. There are no longer multi-record format logical files ; 3. There are no longer join logical files. The advantage of this policy is to obtain a clear programming style and the SQL statement can be easily ported to other non-DB2/400 databases. The reason why there is no record is the QATJ file, is probably due to the fact that the file is needed for only its file format definition as a external described Datastructure in programs with an embedded SQL statements that retrieves data from both the QAT and QDB files.
