I tried desperately to get a fix from SSA on what I consider a major fault in how they populate the ASD file. All I got was an enhancement BMR 40495 that we will probably never see. You can look it up in OGS. Basically what I wanted was for the field SDTXAM to be updated for each appropriate line type of the ASD file then I had created configurable macros off of this field and specific line types to populate the model. Unfortunately without this fix I could not come up with any automatic way of posting tax. The users I work with are entering tax amounts on the distribution lines in ACP500 and assigning the appropriate tax expense (or CIP) account. When we designed our ATP setup last year, three different SSA consultants agreed that the only way to handle sales taxes in the model for invoice entry was to charge them to a separate tax account. Now our accounting staff has a problem. Some taxes, like on construction projects, should be capitalized instead of expensed. And accounting wants the taxes included when looking at expenses for certain types of commodities. Any suggestions?
