If you are tailoring and tinkering with legacy or other RPG programs, this
would be true.

If you are modifying Asset generated BPCS, I would whole heartedly disagree.
You are at a great disadvantage modifying the RPG generated by Asset. Asset
has many weaknesses, but over all does a good job of creating/ maintaining
display program. I would lean towards RPG/IV for generating NEW batch/ report
jobs. I would hate my job if I was modifying the RPG generated by BPCS.

Overall, a good RPG programmer could be just as efficient writing new code as
a good Asset programmer, but a rookie Asset programmer will outperform a
rookie RPG coder. The novice will be productive much faster in Asset.
