Anthony C Kleier@ROBBINSINC 09/18/98 10:26 AM My advice on Uservison...Don't use it. There are other report writers on the market that do a much better job. We tried for several months to create reports in Uservision before going live, and had very little success. Too much time was spent fighting the Uservision interface and performace instead of thinking about the information we wanted. If you do use Uservision though, one thing we learned is that speed is greatly improved when using a routed connection such as Netsoft instead of the direct tcp/ip method. Even using this, performance was still very bad. We went through the same sizing issues and came up with a RISC 530 model 2150, actually bigger than what their sizing recommendations were!!!. We have 1 GBytes of main storage, 70GB of disk and approximately 100 users. We are on 6.0.4 cum Tape of April which is their latest release. I can tell all of you we have been at this with SSA now since October 1996 and are still not live. We now have considerable performance problems on the testing of order entry, inventory, mrp etc. SSA has an answer "We have a new sizing document that will help" yeah!!! Yeah translation "Bigger machine is needed" who are we kidding, the bottom line is they at us more hardware at their software problem. Hey what about ODW when do we get product, has anyone tried User/Vision another joke the performance on that will ring any system to its knees. My quest is to get SSA implemented and then re-evaluate the entire relationship. In the mean time more $$$$$ to be spent I'm sure. +--- | This is the BPCS Users Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to BPCS-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to BPCS-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to BPCS-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner: dasmussen@aol.com +---
