Garry: We are using all IBM pc's that are at least 166's with 32 meg and some more CPU and more memory. The users are not on the net and not dial up to an ISP. We have tried to through resources at the problem and it does not seem to reduce the number of lock ups. Having only two BPCS apps open seems to be the only factor. The typical user has Outlook, one or two CA400 sessions open, and BPCS. ~ Dave Merrell davem@lucks.com 206-674-7284 -----Original Message----- From: owner-bpcs-l@midrange.com On Behalf Of Garry Jackson Sent: Thursday, September 10, 1998 3:16 AM To: BPCS-L@midrange.com Subject: Re: BPCS Lockup W95 desktop Dave, could you give us specifics on the hardware you are using? We are also implementing 6.02 C/S and have experienced occasional lockups, but it has generally been due to a specific hardware (PC) situation or, less frequently, a specific BPCS program being run. We've also run into rare cases where TCP/IP using applications tangle up with each other and lock up the PC. As you know, BPCS, Lotus Notes, web browsers all are TCP/IP users and if you are connected to a LAN and dialing up to a ISP at the same time, that can cause a problem as well. Your comment about two applications open at least opens the door to PC resource problems. We try to use at least P166, 32Mb RAM for a BPCS PC. Garry C.
