Kathleen, In a message dated 98-03-17 18:02:55 EST, you write: > I am in the Milwaukee area, and will be going to SSA in Chicago for a week > next month to learn AS/SET for an upgrade project. I would love to find > some local or internet based education instead, or a video or CBT, and > avoid that daily commute. Does anyone know of any alternatives? Not that I'm aware of. I pulled my own plans for one two years ago when AS/Set was supposed to "go away" (a bit pre-mature, I've found). Sounds like you're attending the same class that has been given since the dawn of the product. If so, you should be aware that this class is pulled _verbatim_ from the tutorial that comes with the product. Although the tutorial is good at teaching you how to "find your way around" in ADK, you should also be aware that BPCS uses AS/Set as it works best -- _NOT_ as it is taught or was originally intended to be used. Unless SSA has added a primer on how to use the BPCS "shell" programs, I wouldn't waste my money _or_ my gas... Personally, I'd hire a BPCS consultant with good references to teach class on site. Learning the shells and the things that aren't in the manual (such as keeping field and subroutine names below six characters, and not selecting more fields from a data model than you need) would be _far_ more valuable than the stock "C&F" class for three days followed by "Advanced Topics" for the next two. Before anyone starts yelling "vendor abuse!", I'm booked -- but would be more than glad to offer any ADK advice for free on this forum. JMHO, Dean Asmussen Enterprise Systems Consulting, Inc.
