Hey Folks! This was "bounced" from the list, I included my response at the bottom: Dean From: GaryWWest@aol.com Message-ID: <313d2701.34d5454e@aol.com> Date: Sun, 1 Feb 1998 23:02:20 EST To: BPCS-L@midrange.com Mime-Version: 1.0 Subject: Re: BPCS 6.02... -Reply Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: 7bit X-Mailer: AOL 3.0 for Windows 95 sub 49 > If you're seeing "pretty good performance", you must have a "pretty small" > database for V6. We have over 250,000 BOM records, and BOM300 takes over > two minutes to bring up even a single-level inquiry. >> BOM300 has an SQL statement that joins MBM with IWM and (if i remember correctly) IWI. This single SQL statement destroys performance for BOM300. I have modifiied this single line of code for all of my clients and then get sub-second responses for this program. Check into it. gary west Yes it does. The comment, as usual, is "... to enhance performance in the UNIX environment, no effect plus or minus on the AS/400". Unfortunately, my primary client has a policy of not "taking ownership" of base BPCS code unless we need to make a change to it based on business rules. BOM300 requires no such change, and no user will pay the fee to have it fixed when they want so many other things worse... Regards, Dean Asmussen Enterprise Systems Consulting, Inc.
