Blake

just let me compare a newly owner of RPGOA with a newly owner of
a (blue) parrot .... (just think "technology" every time "parrot"
is mentioned ... ;-)

Re: [WEB400] Why use PHP? What are the disadvantages?

Nathan:

Open, Close, Read, Write op codes are already inherent in the RPG
compiler.
Why make them a separate products, now? Is this a precedent for
charging
separately and individually for new op codes and %bif()? If so, a number

of
programmers will just create and evoke procedures directly,
rather than using op codes and %bifs() in the compiler.

Good point. IBM fiddles enough with names and prices, that it's possible
they'll include it for free in later releases. The application I see is
for companies that want to retro-fit heritage applications with minimal
expense and time (assuming that's possible).

Henrik:

RIA's requires a service oriented server architecture and the argument
that RPGOA is a weel know way off communication with a client is the
samt as to say - we want to maintain a CARDIN/CARDOUT 80 col punch
card approach to make a 5250 interface - just because people at that
time (when 5250 appeared) was used to it.

Henrik, the thing I like about your posts is that they are often very
subtle (cf. "Clubber" Lang, Rocky III). :^)
