I have a dream, that one day IBM will not create another language <cough> Net.Data <cough> EGL and instead realize the gold mine of existing devotees in the RPG arena. That one day we could see changes to the RPG compiler that would give it enough of a facelift to get it immediate attention similar to what Ruby On Rails is getting (http://www.rubyonrails.org/) with its ease of use and productivity minded infrastructure. Once IBM grasps the reality that RPG could in fact play a "popular role" in iSeries application development, they will be set to beat Microsoft at their own game (e.g. platform dependant languages that are well integrated).
