Great minds, David!  As you were typing your recommendation, I was doing exactly that.  Although I went the keyboard route, c-s-L/c-s-L.

Yes, I had indeed lost the mapping.  No idea how, but I'm just thrilled to have it back.

I would start with -clean ... it's low risk and fixes many problems.

Double check your keyboard mapping (Preferences -> General -> Keys). Make sure Ctrl+Space is still correctly mapped.
