hmmmm....   with v9.0, which I use, it only tries to connect a connection when it is needed.  I generally work with local content and only connect for compiles and for system stuff, like spoolfiles, etc.  In other words, I can leave "work offline" unchecked most of the time, and if it needs a connection it opens it.  But not til it's needed.   If it's needed and the vpn is not connected, then I get the message to connect,  But otherwise no.

So my guess is that there is a setting somewhere?

When RDi opens it checks every connection and starts round-robining
error messages for connections-not-available as fast as I can click cancel.
This has been going on for as long as I can remember.

When I'm working at home over the VPN, I keep all my connections
offline until I need one. Then that one gets 'work online' and
'connect'. I edit/compile/etc and when I'm all done I close every
editor tab, mark the connection 'work offline' and 'disconnect'. The
next time I start RDi, it won't try to auto-connect because every
connection is set to 'offline'.
