Unfortunately, I don't know. They don't publish a change log. There isn't anything huge. Probably things like better code completion, stability fixes, maybe PHP 7 support. I think they added Composer support in there at some point, and I think I usually have to add Mylyn and Git which I think are included in PDT now. Mylyn is of course not necessary, I just find it a helpful integration with issue trackers like bugzilla or Mantis. But to be perfectly honest, I switch between PDT 3.3 and 4.0 with little notice of differences.

OK - thanks Mark.

I have finally got it running and the fact that it is “old” is not much of an issue for me as yet. On the other hand, having my PHP in the same workbench as the RPG code etc. that it calls is a much bigger benefit.

What wondrous features am I missing?

My solution is to use the version of PDT packaged with Luna. It works without issue.

Add the Luna repository to the list of Update Sites
1. Navigate to Help -> Install New Software
2. Click Add Button
3. Set location to http://download.eclipse.org/releases/luna/ and click OK.
4. Now you can search for PDT

PDT will install with no issue.

The main thing here is that this is an older version of PDT because RDi is based on an old version of Eclipse, and it is why I generally install PDT separately from RDi.

Hi Jon,

Feedback from one fellow that was trying to install the PHP tools from the
Eclipse site (http://www.eclipse.org/pdt/) told me that it was "relatively
painful". His finding was that to get the pdt working you'll need to also
install:
dltk from http://download.eclipse.org/technology/dltk/updates-dev/5.6/
and
common.lang3 from
http://download.eclipse.org/tools/orbit/downloads/drops/R20150519210750/repository/

Let me know if it works for you - I have not tried it ;)

Thanks Lou.

Those were the ones the install tool was mumbling about but looking at my
config at appeared that some of it was there already. I use both Zend
Studio and NetBeans PHP so I didn’t spend any more time on it. I’ll give
it another go now.

Any hints on installing PDT Mark? I cannot get it to work it just
complains about missing components - some of which appear to already be
there.

i, too, was disappointed with the move to 9.5 and finding php no longer
included.

at any rate, i posted a ticket to rdi....

they sent me to http://www.eclipse.org/pdt/

i got it working....and asked them to post for their support for others,
the following info:

gee, that was moderately painful....to get the pdt working from the link
you sent (4.1) they'll need to also install:

dltk from http://download.eclipse.org/technology/dltk/updates- dev/5.6/
and
common.lang3 from http://download.eclipse.
org/tools/orbit/downloads/drops/R20150519210750/repository/

as those are required to get the pdt plugin working in rdi 9.5
