Thanks Buck, that was it!

Pressing F1 in the Expression field didn't help resolve the question about
whether a "contains" operator. There was only a simple example. I'll have
to test this on some other program, since this job I'm running takes a long
time to run, and I can't afford to try and miss.

No luck on the wiki.

Yes.

Add a breakpoint as usual.
Right click on the 'break here' icon.
Up pops a dialogue box; choose the option that takes you to the next
screen (can't remember off the top of my head).
There's a place to put an expression there.

Example: arrayIndex >= 12

If the above is possible, I'd also like to know if the comparison to
trigger the break can use the "contains" operator (not "equal") or
something similar to SQL's LIKE predicate.

Hm, don't recall. Dashing out to vote. Put the cursor in the
Expression field and press F1. Maybe the help will help. If not, check
the wiki; one never knows :-)
