OMG. This is basically the case for almost anything I'm interested in
here at our shop. Even something as simple and stupid as setting up
the already-included-with-the-operating-system 5770-TS1 for PDF
generation. Forget the shiny new open-source stuff for PASE.

Don't get me wrong: I am a programmer at heart, and I really don't
want to be a sysadmin. I don't want to be doing most of the stuff that
our sysadmin does. But boy, it would be nice if I could install a few
things.

And some things I can. I have enough system authority to do RST and
RSTOBJ, and that's all it took to get iSeriesPython working.

Sorry for the unsolicited mini-rant. I was basically trying to commiserate.
