Good thought Mike.

Just before I saw this email, in order to see if ssh was really active I used sftp from qshell and got a "I don't know you - go away" message.

So now I guess I need to find out how to set up the users.

Thanks.

Jon,

First of all let me admit that I don't know much about configuring SSH on
the i. However on other platforms you can limit who (what userid's) have
(or don't have) SSH access so it could be that on the system in question
your id is not in the allowed list?

It is very weird Mike.

I have done some additional work since posting and SSH is running. What
happens is that if the ssh server is not running then the "It is not
running shall I start it" message is issued and it does indeed start if we
say yes. However, nothing happens. No error message no nothing.

If I try to start an SEP then once again I am told ssh is not running even
though it is.

Only thing I can think of is a firewall issue but I don't know how to
prove that to the help desk. I can telnet to port 22 and get a response to
the ssh server is clearly running but ...

Not even sure where to look for error messages and there must be some
somewhere.

Thanks for the thought about an RFE for SSL - I will make it so.

Hi John,

For debug over a secure connection you need to also to have SSH running.

You could open an RFE to request that debug work with SSL...

Client is using RDi over SSL (non-standard port # but nothing else
unusual) - everything is working fine - until - we try to do debug. Then

it barfs with a message about the SSH server not being started.

I'm still a newbie in the world of certificates etc. but I'm guessing
that
perhaps the cert is only valid for certain ports?

If that is not the case then can anyone suggest where else I should be
looking. Same RDi V9 setup runs debug just fine to other servers.
