Mike,

Thanks for your reply! Both sources are local. For CL, the url is like
this:
file:///C:/workspaces/RDPi/workspace/.metadata/.plugins/com.ibm.etools.iseries.subsystems.qsys/cache/
. . . <file:///C:/workspaces/RDPi/workspace/.metadata/.plugins/com.ibm.etools.iseries.subsystems.qsys/cache/PITT2.GROUND.FEDEX.COM/CL/QSYS/DOUNTIL.Help.html#DOUNTIL?noframes=true>

and for RPG, the url is like this:
http://127.0.0.1:3301/help/topic/com.ibm.etools.iseries.langref.doc/evfrilsh501.htm

The CL version opens in my default browser in a new tab. The RPG version
opens in its own 2 pane window outside of the browser. The CL version
looks like the help format from CODE/400 days while the RPG version looks
like the current format.

For users at my company who have 8.0.3.1, this is how it is working. For
users with 8.0 and no updates, the CL help opens a window just like the RPG
help except it does not display any CL help. It instead goes to
"Information Map".

I'm not asking for anything to be changed, I just want to know if that is
the way it is supposed to be or not so that I know what to tell our users.

Thanks!

Phil

By just trying it and not doing any research I would say that the RPG help
is being displayed from the shipped or online language help, for example
http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/iadthelp/v8r5/index.jsp?nav=%2F26_1_1_0_0

And by the actions that appear to be going on the CL help is not part of
the shipped help but is being generated on the fly from your IBM i and
shown in a browser window.

Is either presenting incorrect information?

If you would like it to operate differently there is of course the IBM RFE
Community site: http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/

All the best, Mike

Subject: [WDSCI-L] help browser differs for CL and RPG
Sent by: wdsci-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx

All,

I just noticed that when I press F1 in a CL source that the help is opened
in my default browser. But when I press F1 in an RPG source that the help
is opened in its own two pane window.

Is that the way that it is supposed to be?

Thanks,
Phil
