Hopefully with the new pricing for RDi, some type of EGL will be
included (again).
EGL is part of RDi-SOA, not part of the base RDi. RDi-SOA contains all the web-based tooling, including things like WebFacing/HATS and all that other good stuff. The pricing hasn't been set in stone, but it's definitely going to be more than RDi. The incremental price is what you're going to have to fight with IBM about.

I gave IBM my two cents, and I'm hopeful that there will be some relief, at least for people wanting to try the product out. But the Rational team wants money for the web tooling and they're going to charge for it. The good news from my standpoint is that you don't need a lot of EGL developers in any given shop. If your business logic is sitll primarily RPG, you can use RDi to build powerful web pages and call your RPG code. The web pages design is actually fairly trivial, as is the code to call RPG.
