Hi,

You can use Net Server, that's a TCPIP Server on the AS400 which can be
started from Operations Navigator. Then in Operations Navigator go in and
create shares. From there you really don't even need to map a drive
letter to the share but you can refer to files as
\\MYAS400\MYSHARE\FOLDER.

Also sometimes I find that you need to put the letter Q in front of the
AS400 name when mapping shares... I don't know the intricacies but that
makes it work sometimes.

The thing with netserver is that I believe, (and I'm not 100% sure on
this) that your AS/400 password and NT password must match.

Regards,
Dean

Subject
[WDSCI-L] Map Network Drive

I've just loaded WDSCi V5.1 on my new DELL machine (XP). When I follow
the instructions for mapping to iSeries network drives I receive a 53
error. I used the DOS command NET SET suggested in the manual provided
with WDSCi. I was able to configure my iSeries via RSE w/o a problem. I
believe that my mapping problem is due to firewall issues. I will
probably have to give the network team my first born in trade for opening
the iSeries ports required for network drive mappings.
How have ya'll handled this mapping issue? Any spoon feeding I can do for
my network group would be appreciated. Specific ports, etc..
Have a wonderful day.
