Greetings,

I had tried Provider=IBMDA400;Data Source=*name in client access*;User
Id=*me*;Password=*pass*; that I found on connectionstrings.com.

The IBMDA400 is part of client access. I did not want to load client
access on every PC that would go to the 400.

I tried Data Source=*iseries IP*;User ID=*me*;Password=*pass*; but that
failed on the data source.

Isn't there a plain old ODBC that I could use? I am very new to .net and
was just trying to make a connection to the 400. I tried to find a simple
ODBC driver in .net, but no joy.

tia,
John

Not sure I understand the question. What do you mean by a "plain old
connection"? In your ASP.Net code you'll connect to the iSeries, so you
need an iSeries connection string. Should look something like:

Data Source=iSeriesName;Naming=System;User
ID=WebUser;Password=Secret;LibraryList=RXLIB,*USRLIBL;
