MRP Date reference = 999999 ? -- SYSTEM21

When I review the MRP demand (also referred to as MRP Inquiry, program
MR050) I see supply records displayed as 99/99. The MRP supply file MRP73
does contain a value of 9999999 in field MRPD73 for certain work orders.
Does anybody have an explanation as why the date would be 9999999 ?
