You will need to install the AFP print drivers from client access if you
have not done so already.  Set up a PC printer using the IBM AFP 3812
driver.

Using word, format your document and print to this AFP printer.  Set
printer options to create an Overlay not a page segment.  When you print
using this printer it will create a .PRN file on your PC.

On the AS/400, create a temp physical file set for the maximum record
length.  FTP the .PRN file as a binary image (type BIN during FTP
session)to the AS/400 temp file.

Issue the CRTOVL command specifying the name of your overlay and your temp
file.  BTW be sure to specify the correct member name from your temp file.

This has been simplified considerably and I'm a little rusty with this. 
It's been awhile since I've done this.  Hope this helps a little.
