You must use caution when launching AFI extract from Machine Manager... It is a great way to do it but there is a bit of a bug in the code logic... One of the logical files in use actually causes a problem if more than one AFI extract is running at the same time... Records from one company are actually processed into another company's G/L... This has been a known problem since at least 1996 but has existed even longer. I know, I reported it to Studley when I was a JBAer... They chose not to fix the problem. It still exists at the latest version of 3.5.2.

We too run several company's AFI extracts in Machine Manager but we have a custom task that is overridden to a specific single-threaded jobq... All AFI extract jobs (both manually launched and Job Scheduled) use the same jobq to avoid having to clean up the mess created otherwise...

If you have multiple companies and are not forcing them to use the same jobq, you also run the risk of having this mess befall you if by chance two AFI extract jobs happen to run coincidentally.

I don't know if they addressed this problem in Aurora or not... Would be interesting to know...

On a side note if your AFI extracts seem to be taking a long time to run you may want to consider purging some of those PCP* and AFI* transaction files... Those AFI extract jobs spend most of their time rebuilding indexes to those logical files... And we all know those files grow rather quickly... There's a cluster of code that could stand a rewrite...!!!

Good luck.

Greetings, Greg.

...Alternatively (and this is how we do it), you can create a
Machine Manager entry to run FI task #0042 daily. The MM setup of this
task will prompt you for a source application (OE), just as 1/FIP did.
