You can set up an auto reply to the message.  I don't know how to do it, but
I know it can be done.  This might have limited application if it is a very
generic message.

Also, you can buy monitoring software (such as Bytware's Messenger Plus)
that can answer the message or send a page to your cellphone to let you know
something is up.  It is very flexible.

You could even use this software to answer the message from a cellphone
while you are out of the office.

We use this software, and like it very much.

Our system wakes up every hour to transmit and receive transaction from our
VAN, it retries 3 times if the line is busy, then terminates the call. About
once a month, it "forgets" to terminate the call. The job just hangs and all
other jobs are waiting in line behind it. And it usually happens during the
night or week-end.

Any clue on how to setup a trigger in the system that would monitor this
job, and after 30 minutes, would terminate it. It can't look at CPU usage
since it is not taking any.
