Sorry for the belated reply.. But it turns out what happened in this case was that I commented out the last file specification and its record format that provided definitions for the subfields in one of the data structures..

To answer the questions, though...

To Birgitta, all the date formats are set to *ISO-, including in the CTL-OPT for the RPG, and DATFMT = ISO for the SQL.

For Barbara, I qualified the KCS to avoid a clash with another cursor, and because this is a conversion from RPG input/output where the programmer had used a different prefix for the field names. I didn't bother figuring out why but changed the prefix from SQCS to KCS. No idea why he used SQ, I didn't like it, because the precompiler generates plenty of SQ prefixed names.
