A simple case would be converting a delimited string into separated fields
(eg. a .CSV file). In fact, the old SCAN Op-code was capable of this. When
IBM implemented the %SCAN BIF this was omitted. In fact, I don't if Justin
is aware of this but, for example the ABAP (SAP) programming language has
just a instruction with the same name (SPLIT) as his suggestion.
