Hi,
Can this please be closed. I was obviously having a bad day!!The reason for the count difference is one is the number of characters in English and the other is thenumber of characters when converted to Base64.
Thanks,Mark.

Hi,
This is my first try with CLOB data.
I have an RPG embedded SQL program that creates a table which has one field defined as CLOB. I use the insert SQL statement within the RPGto copy the contents of a file in the IFS to the CLOB field. The IFS file contains base64 encoded data
I can then use CAST function in SQL to display the contents of the CLOB field and all seems okay.
The problem is that according to the IFS file the data is approx 12054 bytes but when I use the CAST function in SQL I can view over 15,000 bytes of data.
Any help appreciated.
BTW the purpose of this is to remove email header words such as 'DATA', 'SIZE' so I can decode the file.
R,Mark.
