There have been some recent threads about printing with PNG - even with GIFs - Michael Schutte has helped me out with this.

As to HPT support for AFPRSC - this comes in a more recent release of the OS - 7.2, I believe. Because we are on 7.1, I could not use that support. But I was able to do fine using a combination of OVRSPLF or CPYSPLF to create the PDF - these DO support the AFPRSC keyword. Then use the Convert Image API to get from the PDF to PCL - that is basically a wrapper of PCL around the actual PDF code. This works IF your printer has a module for printing PDF files directly, which most modern HP printers do, I believe.

There is also a component ID for PNG files - not documented yet for IBM i, but it might work if you are on 7.2 - I forget right now - there is also one for GIFs, not listed, as I recall. Look for that other thread, I think I and/or Michael listed what the Component IDs were.

Yes I've tried PDFSPO since my PDF is a complete page.

When I print to my laser, I get nothing but the text. When I try to use
GUMBO Spoolmail to send it to my email, I get "spooled file resource list
count exceeds limit"

Actually it seems one can use PDFs - here are a couple items from the
SFPRSC documentation, the chart of usable object types

*PDFSPO 25 A PDF single-page object
*PDFSPOTR 49 A PDF single-page object with transparency

This was from V5R4 documentation, so there might even be other variants
now.

I don't think you can use a PDF as an AFPRSC.

Thanks, that works. Has anyone ever used the AFPRSC keyword succesfully?
I'm sending the path as /tmp and the file as label.pdf. Do I need an
extra
/ at the end of tmp?

Does a regular printer file with a PDF as an AFPRSC require any
additional
licensed programs?

call entryPList(imageFile: path: pos_T: imgSize_T);

Sorry, that should have been callp.
