I have not worked with Excel files in RPG so it would be a first time thing, but we do have programs that use the CPYTOIMPF and create csv files.
But I was looking to skip a few steps as we need data in a table in a spreadsheet.
If we just create a csv then a PC user has to import the csv file into Excel, select the data imported and create a table over it.

We have a Windows application that reads the data from an Excel table and takes over a client access session and types the data into the screen.
Saves a lot of typing.
This application requires the Table setup so I have no other options.

I'm pretty sure the underlying POI library (from Apache, written in

Have you already worked with Excel files in RPG, and are just trying
to add new features? Or is this a first-time thing? Because if
you're doing this from scratch, it's a good opportunity to at least
consider other options.
