Birgitta,
I was attempting to accommodate receiving a file of up to 2GB and storing each in a DB2 file as a CLOB.
I now realize that using embedded SQL to read the data from a stream file via a CLOB_FILE data type and write it directly into the 2GB CLOB column is the answer.
It was interesting to debug and observe the write operation take about 80 secs for a 0.7 GB file.

I have not yet been able to find again the material that describes the abbreviated nomenclature for specifying the size of LOBs in units other than bytes like K, M or G

Thanks, Peter

You cannot define a CLOB-Variable in this way, due to the RPG restrictions (maximum length for an RPG variable is 16MB - since Release 6.1) so the maximum length of a CLOB variable is 16MB.
If you need to access CLOB-Data up to 2 GB, you either have to use a CLOB_LOCATOR or if you want to access data in the IFS a LOB Reference File CLOB_FILE.

Betreff: SQLTYPE syntax for 2GB clob

I once spotted the correct for specifying a gigabyte clob but can't find it again

Something like SQLTYPE(CLOB: 2G) but that doesn't work as a D-spec
