Do not run them with Activation Group *NEW
Avoid unnecessary ITER operations, create/use a logical file (or better an
SQL Index) with the right sequence and SELECT/OMIT-Clauses or WHERE
conditions.

When using embedded SQL:
Avoid compile option CLOSQLCSR=*ENDMOD
Do not specify DDS described logical files, use SQL views instead
Instead of working with multiple cursors, check whether the files/tables can
be joined together.
Check whether the right indexes are available
Use Multiple Row Fetches into Array Data structures
Avoid SELECT *, only specify the columns/fields you really need
Avoid dynamic SQL (and if you have to use dynamic SQL PREPARE once and
EXECUTE multiple times)

Betreff: Suggestions on Speeding up a program

I'm looking for any and all suggestions on possible ways to speed up some
programs.

The typical ones that come to mind are:

1. avoiding open and closes on files
2. Not setting LR when calling a program or procedure multiple times 3.
using Data structures for block reads and writes

Any other suggestions?
