Note that your code example is nonsense. It is testing bit 2 and if off *IN16 will be *ON, if bit 2 is on then *IN17 will be *ON. Then if *IN71 is *ON (meaning bit 2 is on) the code sets it on. What's the point of that?

I presume because the code shows *ind17 = *on, which contains a syntax error, you've mistyped rather than copied verbatim.
