Adam,

You can do this from within an ILE RPG program. Scott Klement has a set of open source stuff at his web site (www.scottklement.com) that is just a treasure trove of good things. The one that you want to look at for this issue is the HTTP API. In fact, Scott gives sessions at COMMON and elsewhere using it to do this very thing.

Basically, you're attaching to a web service. Some of these are free and some of them are fee-based. Your company's bank may be able to help with that, or not.

Subject: Getting data from banks

HI I believe there was a discussion recently about getting foreign currency rates not long ago but can't locate it.

Is it doable to have an RPG program go to a web site and get the rates or it must be done via an FTP or XML process?

Does anyone currently do this for foreign currency? If not, how do you get your rates, assuming that you sell to other countries?
