Keep in mind that DDS does no error checking on write. Only SQL's DDL
does. For example it's quite easy to create a file in DDS that has a date
field and put bad data in there. The classic example is CPYF from a flat
file into it. And the flat file could have letters or whatever. If you
copy that into a DDS defined date field file it easily accepts the
corrupted data with no problem. Try the same thing in a DDL defined file
and it will tell you to go shirt in your hat and pull it down over your
ears.
