No, in all seriousness, if you are totally restricting database access to
server programs, then what is the purpose of external definitions of data
versus using internally defined files? After all, doesn't external
definitions simply encourage direct access of the data versus use of the
server programs? Doesn't external definitions make it easier to determine
data that they shouldn't be looking at? Like, "Hey I wonder what's in
this field called SSN?" I have worked with packages that, while they did
externally define their data, every description on everything was simply
the same copyright notice. And the field names were all nonsensical.
