Try this:
 C eval newfield = CConst + variable

newfield must be one longer than the variable or you will drop the last character of the variable.

Hello everyone,

I am trying to output different colors onto my display file, without using indicators in my RPG.

I created Constants with the hex value of the colors I need. I then move my file value into my output field, and then move the color constant to the first byte of my output field. It changes the color of the field when I run the program, but it overlays the first character, so nothing shows in the first character.

I thought all I had to do was move my color constant into the first byte and everything would be fine.

It has been double digit years since the last time I did this, and it worked then. I am just getting too old to remember.:-)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We are at V4R5.

TIA,

Nick
